COVID-19 Pathophysiology: Characteristics of the Immune Response of Children and Adults.
Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Objective: to present the pathophysiology of COVID-19 and the main factors that differentiate the disease spectrum and immune response between the pediatric and adult age group. Literature review: Narrative bibliographic exploratory study conducted on the digital platforms PubMed, LILACS and Scielo, covering publications within the period from 2016 to 2021, having selected a sample of 18 articles that address aspects such as structure and interaction of the virus with humans as well as its replication, main differences on clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in children and adults and immune response. Conclusion: It was possible to elucidate the factors that interfere in the susceptibility of the disease by COVID-19 and in the different immune response between children and adults.
